Mindfulness: How do I make it work for me?

Linda Carter-Shepherd and Kirsten Vale will give you an hour and a half of peacefulness as well as ideas about how you can achieve this every day.    This workshop is an introduction to the theory of mindfulness, what they know from scientific research, and how you can make it all work for you.

Linda is a social worker and Kirsten a clinical psychologist, both specialising in mental health and wellbeing.  Linda and Kirsten have 50(ish) years of combined experience, working with clients from varying backgrounds, aiming to give them strategies to maximise wellbeing and satisfaction, even in difficult times.

They will introduce you to the workings and purpose of mindfulness as they know that so many people believe that they are unable to be mindful and/or meditate, or to engage with it “properly”.  They will give you the opportunity to experience mindfulness in a guided setting, using some different approaches so that you can decide what works best for you.  They will also give you the chance to ask any questions.

If you like the idea of lying down to meditate, bring a mat and blanket.  If not, just bring an openness to the experience.
